Intro call
Not sure where to start
- 20 minutes by video or phone
- Talk through your home, your bills and what you're considering
- Honest read on whether a paid service is worth it for you
Independent energy advice for Western North Carolina homeowners, done remotely by video call, photos and your utility bills. I review solar and battery quotes, find where your energy goes, and help you plan for the next long outage. I don't sell equipment, so the advice is just advice.
Flat prices, agreed before I start. Everything happens by video call, email and photos you take on your phone. Every paid service ends with a written report you keep, whether or not you buy anything afterward.
Not sure where to start
You have one or more installer quotes
High bills, drafty rooms, or planning upgrades
Tired of losing power on the mountain
Starting from scratch on solar
Most projects take one to two weeks from first call to finished report.
A free 20-minute conversation about your home and your goals.
Email your quotes and bills, then walk me through your home on a video call.
A plain-language written report with numbers you can check.
Take the report to any installer, or do nothing at all. Your call.
Installers sell systems. I don't.
Most homeowners only hear about solar from the people selling it. Some of those quotes are great. Some are oversized, overpriced, or built on incentives that no longer exist; the 30% federal tax credit for home solar ended at the start of 2026, and plenty of sales pitches haven't caught up.
Mountain homes add their own questions: shaded ridges, steep roofs, long outages after storms. I help you sort out what makes sense for your house before you sign anything. If your home needs hands-on testing, I'll tell you and point you to a qualified local pro.
I'm Coen Puckett. I started Scout Solutions to give Western North Carolina homeowners an honest, independent read on energy upgrades. My background is in sustainability, construction and job-site safety.
I work remotely from Utah. Working remotely keeps my prices low and my advice independent: I have no local sales territory and no installer relationships to protect.

Tell me a little about your home and what you're weighing. We'll talk by video, and I'll tell you honestly whether I can help.
